Hundreds

Portfolio 1: Hundreds Sculpture

Repetition:

Repeated use of a shape, colour, or other art element or design in a work can help unify different parts into a whole. The viewer can get a sense of consistency.

Balance:

Balance in art refers to the sense of distribution of perceived visual weights that offset one another. I use same art elements from left to right, up to down to make a fence. Fence in our daily life is also balance.

Emphasis:

Cross the two small wooden sticks and then clamp the intersection with a small clip, then make countless small sculptures and combine them. Combine these small wooden sticks and small clips around a fulcrum to make the sculpture a height, space, and stretch outward.

Rhythm:

This is a rhythm sculpture. Use some wooden sticks to shows the viewer in and out, up and down, flowing and pausing. It looks like a sound wave.

Variety:

I place the stick in a different direction with one of the fulcrums. The viewers can seeing different spatial senses from different directions.

Let’s combing all elements!!!!!

The sculpture first Connect a hexagonal base with five large paper clips. Each large paper clip is hung with some small paper clips to give the viewer a sense of rhythm. There’s a vertical link to a paper clip on top of a large paper clip as a three-dimensional support. The top is connected by four paper clip chains of the same length to make the whole look more spatial and stereoscopic. Doesn’t this sculpture look like a delicate cage?
