Inspiration and Idea Development

The dynamic sense of these wire sculptures are strong. Originally, the wire metal line is a soft material, so I prepare to make my wire sculpture more three-dimensional, and artistic.

Work-in-process

Firstly, let the wire around the cylinder.

Then, wind the wire into a sphere.

Make a round solid base.

Make a bent lamp stand.

Completed Work

Finally, hang up the lights. After hanging it up, i found that the lamp’s sphere was too heavy to support the base, so i strengthened the base and the lamp stand.

Tips: Can put a mini candle inside the ball to make it bright.

Reflection:

I lookup a lot of works of art about wire sculpture online, but I have no inspired. However, as soon as I turn on the lamp, the inspiration come. Why don’t I make a lamp? My inspiration comes from life. We use lamp every day.

The lamp I make has a base, a lamp post, and a lampshade for placing light bulbs. I use wire for this sculpture because I thought it could make a three-dimensional sculpture. The size of the work is about 20 centimeters. The wire material I chose is soft, so I thicken the wire by folding it.

I like my wire sculpture, and there is no challenging to me. The end result are what I expect, because it’s just like the sculpture I drew.
